Reflection
For me, the Professional Standards for BC Educators speak to the unique and important position teachers occupy in our society. There is so much expected of teachers – they must be of upstanding moral character, have vast and specialized knowledge, have a disposition towards learning, and collaborate with parents and the community. There are few other professions that demand so much of its practitioners. I believe that it speaks to how much our society values children and their education that it expects so much of its teachers. I feel that it is an honour and a privilege to be entrusted with such a responsibility and, as a teacher candidate, I am committed to upholding the Professional Standards for BC Educators to the highest standard.
