Reflection

I firmly believe that the First Peoples Principles of Learning provide a roadmap for BC educators to Indigenize their teaching practice. The British Columbia education system as it exists today is a colonial institution, which makes Indigenization a challenging, but worthy task. My interpretation of these nine principles is that they are meant to been woven into every aspect of teaching and learning, providing a holistic framework for understanding how, when, where, and with whom learning takes place. These principles should be at the core of education and everything that we do as teachers in the classroom should reflect and uphold them.
